The ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE Missions hub is a campaign map with an evidence boundary. Bandai Namco describes a cinematic campaign in Strangereal, a conflict between the Federation of Central Usea and the Republic of Sotoa, high-stakes missions, choices, squad connections, briefings, a hangar, missions, replay, and debriefing. The official Japanese gameplay page also separates air-to-air, ground, anti-ship, and giant-weapon encounters. That is enough to plan the questions a player will ask; it is not enough to publish a guessed final mission list.
Every mission page should keep the base Steam product separate from the ACE COMBAT ZERO preorder bonus. The bonus is a distinct older game included in purchase messaging, not a campaign chapter in AppID 2288340. It also should not import mission names, ace-style outcomes, or unlock rules from another ACE COMBAT title unless the current game explicitly presents them.
Use the briefing as the first source of truth
Before sortie, read the briefing for the objective, target class, time pressure, weather cue, and any named allied role. A mission can be mechanically simple while asking for a particular order of operations. “Destroy the enemy” is not the same as “protect the installation,” “intercept the formation,” or “survive the superweapon phase.” The walkthrough hub will quote the displayed objective and explain what remains unknown when the game is live.
The hangar is part of the mission route. The official material says that players choose an aircraft, select special weapons, and combine upgrade parts. A walkthrough should therefore record the preparation state, not just the cinematic story. If the page cannot name the exact available menu in the release build, it should say that the menu location is pending verification rather than invent a button path.
Read objective types as different problems
Air-to-air work rewards positioning, lock discipline, and countermeasures. Ground attack adds target prioritization and terrain awareness. Anti-ship sorties may change the approach angle and weapon decision. Giant-weapon battles are multi-phase encounters where a normal dogfight answer may waste the opening.
These categories come from the official gameplay description, not from a fabricated mission database. They are useful because they tell a new pilot what to observe. During the first playthrough, note whether the mission changes objective text, introduces a new threat, adds a time limit, or opens a command prompt. Those observations can later become a stable guide entry with AppID, platform, and version attached.
Separate story beats from combat instructions
The campaign pages should use spoiler labels and keep plot summaries below the actionable route. The official site names the FCU, Sotoa, Strangereal, the Wings of Theve identity, and trusted wingmen. Those are safe setting facts. The exact consequences of a choice, the order in which characters appear, and the final outcome require the released game or an authoritative post-launch source.
For a spoiler-light route, publish:
- the mission’s objective and broad threat type;
- the preparation question the player must answer;
- the combat skill that matters most;
- the point at which a new phase or debriefing begins;
- the source and date for any version-sensitive result.
For a full walkthrough, add the precise objective changes only after they are observed on Steam Windows. Never turn a preview trailer into a claim that a named scene is an interactive branch.
Treat debriefing as part of the mission
The official Japanese page explicitly shows replay and debriefing as campaign elements. A useful page should tell players what to inspect after the score screen: objective completion, aircraft or MRP changes, replay availability, wingman relationship text, and any new briefing. The guide can distinguish “the game displayed this result” from “the community expects this reward.”
If a sortie fails, record the failure phase instead of restarting blindly. Missing an air target suggests Combat or Aircraft; running out of time suggests Mission Objectives and loadout planning; losing track of the state after a cutscene suggests the debriefing section; stutter during cloud effects belongs to Technical. This creates links that help a player recover without duplicating the whole campaign article.
Plan the source corpus by release state
The first source slice uses one child, Campaign Walkthrough, because it exercises procedural and story intents without creating an empty mission database. Later pages can cover mission objectives and superweapons once each page has a target-specific answer. A page should not exist just because “mission list” is a common search query. It must provide a stable lookup, a route, or a verified post-launch result.
The hub will use three evidence labels:
- Official for facts stated by Steam or Bandai Namco for this title.
- Community reported for a directly relevant independent observation that is clearly attributed and dated.
- Needs live/version testing for exact objectives, unlocks, choices, timings, or outcomes that the current public material does not settle.
Sources and next steps
Start with the Bandai Namco walkthrough, the official gameplay guide, the official Japanese system page, and the Steam Store page. The Ace Combat Wiki mission page is a current independent discovery source, not a substitute for a released-build check. All were checked or discovered on 2026-08-09 UTC.
When the game launches, add mission names and objectives in stable order, record the Steam build or public version, and link changed missions from Updates. Keep the broad hub evergreen; put patch-specific objective changes in dated entries so old walkthroughs do not silently become misleading.
