The official ACE COMBAT 8 material says that additional fighter jets can be unlocked with MRP earned through missions. That gives ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE a clear player intent—how to access an aircraft and how to track the currency—but it does not publish a final cost table, mission reward multiplier, or unlock order. Use this guide to record those values when the Steam Windows build is live.
Identify the MRP source
At the debriefing, record whether MRP is displayed, how the amount is described, and whether the result depends on score, objective completion, difficulty, or optional targets. Do not borrow a farming route from another ACE COMBAT game. A familiar currency name does not prove the same reward formula.
The Aircraft hub uses MRP as the official product vocabulary. The Campaign Walkthrough owns the mission result that may lead to the reward. The Systems hub owns broader progression and edition boundaries. This division makes it possible to update one value without turning a mission note into a store comparison.
Record one unlock at a time
For each aircraft, capture the displayed name, availability state, required mission or tree position, MRP cost, preview statistics, special weapons, and upgrade slots. Add the build, difficulty, platform, and date. If the aircraft appears after a branch or choice, record the condition and do not assume every save reaches it.
Also record the before-and-after state of the hangar. Write down the currency total before purchase, the confirmation text, the aircraft’s new status, and whether the option immediately becomes selectable. If the game shows a prerequisite that is not a mission title, preserve its exact wording. This makes the unlock page useful when a player can see a plane but cannot equip it yet.
The result should distinguish “locked,” “available to purchase,” “owned,” and “equipped.” A player who can see an aircraft in a preview does not necessarily own it. If a package or pre-order grants an aircraft, keep the entitlement in Editions and Bonuses and mark the roster row with the correct scope.
Spend currency after identifying the bottleneck
An unlock is valuable because it solves a mission or handling problem, not because it is new. Read the objective and decide whether you need air-to-air coverage, ground attack, speed, stability, or a special weapon. If the first aircraft can complete the mission, saving MRP may be safer than buying an untested option.
Do not claim that one aircraft is the fastest MRP route without a controlled comparison. Use the same mission, difficulty, objective state, and bonus conditions. Record the time and result, then label a community observation separately from an official reward rule.
Avoid spending all currency during a discovery run. Leave enough room to test whether a second aircraft, part, or special weapon changes the same objective. A recommendation should tell the reader what they gain, what they give up, and which requirement has actually been verified.
If the purchase is reversible, record that condition; if it is not, preserve the pre-purchase screen before confirming. This protects the test from turning into an accidental recommendation.
Check replay and save behavior
Replay may be useful for earning or testing, but official preview material does not establish whether every replay grants the same MRP, whether branch choices alter the reward, or whether difficulty changes the amount. Capture the pre-replay currency, loadout, mission state, and post-debrief total before drawing a conclusion.
Steam Cloud is listed as a feature, but it does not prove that every currency state or hangar choice is recoverable across machines. Allow synchronization to finish and do not delete local saves to force a result. If the game shows a conflict, record the exact choice and seek official support guidance.
This page was checked on 2026-08-09 UTC against the official walkthrough, official product page, and Steam Store. Until the live build exposes costs and rewards, the safe answer is a measurement method, not a fabricated unlock spreadsheet.
